Revised Financial Report
A revised financial report for January 2024 is now available for viewing:
Gate Sensor
We have an issue with someone placing tape over the sensor on the exit gate on West End Drive. Please refrain from placing anything over these sensors. Placing tape over the sensor can damage it and compromise it’s ability to detect people or vehicles. If you have any questions regarding the gate, please address it with Sherry Danko or one of the board members.
Update on Claim
Both appraisers, from our team and for the insurance company, have connected and exchanging umpire candidates. An umpire is an appointed professional who will make a decision regarding the impasse we, and the insurance company, have regarding this claim. Updates will be periodic with the appraisal, but will have some milestones to monitor and report. Once an umpire is selected they will be coordinating site visits, likely in January.
Insurance Claim Update
We are moving to the next step regarding our insurance claim from Hurricane Ian. Currently, we are waiting on the appraisers to engage and initiate the process. As discussed at our meeting in October, we asked for an appraiser to be engaged to determine our loss and will work with an appraiser from the insurance company side. We can’t interfere on the timing of these appraisals, but we will seek monthly updates from the panel. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these steps to resolve our claim.
Coyote Sightings
We have had multiple residents with coyote sightings on and around the property recently. These sightings have happened at all times of the day.
I spoke to Florida Fish and Wildlife about them and asked for direction.
They stated that coyote sightings are very common this time of year and happen every year. The number of sightings this year is no higher than prior years. It just seems that they are closer to us than usual.
The best way to address this is to be aware and try to remove any incentive they have to hang around here.
First and foremost we need to remove or eliminate any food source. This means no pet food outside (especially outside of your lanai). Bird food counts as well. Also, trash cans should be inside except on pick up days and then should be kept closed and no bags left outside of the bins.
If you see any using drainage pipes for nesting, we need to be notified immediately.
If you should encounter a coyote while out walking your dog, its recommended that you pick up your dog and then make loud noise to scare them away. They generally run away challenged. We all need to work together to make our community less appealing, so they move elsewhere.
