Pool & Spa Refurbishing

After the pool and spa were drained, the old ceramic tile was removed and replaced. Any concrete surfaces that were not up to par were chipped away and repairs were made.

On Saturday, a large crew came to resurface both the pool and the spa with a product called “Stonescapes, Aqua cool mini pebble”.

Both the spa and pool have now been refilled with city water. Once chemicals are rebalanced we will obtain permission to reopen.

Pool and spa were opened on Oct 7, 2021.

Swale & Streetlights on West End

In June 2020 a Board member reached out to councilperson Jaha Cummings raising concerns about the lack of lighting on the sidewalk parallel to West End Dr. The city informed no electricity was present on the street to add lighting but FPL would be contacted to see if something could be done.

A year passed…

In May 2021 electricity was added to the street and lamp posts soon followed. The city completed the job by refurbishing the swale.

The grass has been too wet to cut in the last couple weeks, but everything is back in order. The drop off from roadway to grass is no longer present and we have the new street lamps.

Hot Water Heaters

When draining hot water heaters, please ensure the water (and sediment) go into the grass or ensure that the hose is long enough to take the water directly to the drain. Draining a hot water heater onto the asphalt can create stains as shown below and they do not fade quickly.

Water Cooler to Fridge/Freezer

The water cooler at the pool was rusting out and no longer functioning properly. A replacement unit was between $600 and $2,000.

Instead of replacing the water fountain, the Board decided instead to reach out to the community for a fridge that could supply cold water and ice and also allow short term storage of perishable items to the community who use the pool area.

Ron Case and Ron Studzinski both donated used refrigerators. Ron Case’s donated fridge is now installed in place of the water cooler and Ron Studzinski’s will be given to someone in need. Special thanks to both of you.

Pool and Spa Temp

After receiving complaints about the pool and spa temperatures following changes that were made last month, the Board decided to set the pool temperature at 88F and the spa temperature at 103F effective Mar 1, 2021.

Keep in mind that when temperatures drop at night, it can take a good part of the day before the pool and spa return to their normal set temperatures.

Also note that the heater controls are locked so that users cannot change the settings. Pool heater is normally turned off at the end of May.
