Ordinances

A complete list of ordinances are on the city of Punta Gorda website. Those which are of most interest to condominium owners and occupants:

  • Incidents involving pets in Chapter 5 – Animals and Foul. Contact animal control at (941) 833-5690 for barking pets, animal neglect, animal attacks, or in the case of an aggressive pet. They will also deal with instances where fecal matter is not being removed from public space, for example from sidewalks off the property. Animal control will assist with sick and injured wildlife, but not with wild nuisance animals.
  • Issues regarding barbecues and related smoke are covered in Chapter 9c – Fire Prevention. Contact the Fire Marshall’s office at (941) 575-5529 to make a complaint.
  • Noise complaints are covered in Chapter 14 – Noises. Contact code compliance at (941) 575-3352 between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Outside office hour issues are dealt with by the Punta Gorda Police. Call the non emergency telephone number at (941) 639-4111.
